bootcd-ia64 software package provides bootcd extension to create images that can boot on ia64, you can install in your Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install bootcd-ia64
bootcd-ia64 is installed in your system.
Make ensure the bootcd-ia64 package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep bootcd-ia64 *
You will get with bootcd-ia64 package name, version, architecture and description in a table
